The 2008 season was greeted with great anticipation.  The Patriots had gone 18-1 in 2007, losing their only game to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.  Patriot nation was eager to see where the Patriots would lead us in '08.  Our dreams were somewhat dashed in the very first game, however, when Tom Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury.
What we've learned since that fateful day is that  Matt Cassell is an NFL quarterback.  He got better and better each week, much like Brady did in his first year, and led the team to an 11-5 record.  Normally, that would be good enough to get you into "the tournament" but, alas, not this year.  The Patriots would lose out on a playoff bid due to a 0-5 conference record.
