This is "The
Ralph" or Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park,New York. It sits just outside
of Buffalo, New York near the shores of Lake Erie. It is the home of the NFLs
Buffalo Bills. We also like to call it "Gillette Stadium-West."
We visited The Ralph every
year between 2001 and 2009.
The red dot (below)
indicates where we sit when we visit The Ralph.
As an interesting side note
to The Ralph, you'll notice a small, rectangular wooded area in the upper middle of this
arial photo. This is actually the fenced-off Sheldon Family Cemetery.
The Sheldon family began burying their dead on this plot of land in the 1830's and
continued to do so until the 1940's. Until the time the stadium was built, the
cemetery was largely unheard of. A local historian succeeded in drawing attention to
it and it was restored and rededicated sometime during the 1970's.
Here's a picture of the
Sheldon family cemetery taken during the 2008 Buffalo road trip.
