Steelers - Sep. '02
Home Up
These photos were taken on Monday night, September 9, 2002.  This was the very first regular season game at Gillette Stadium.  The Patriots, of course, won the game 30-14.

Pack it up, boys!

Arriving early in Walpole.

We're here!

Tom and Chris arrive.

Everybody's settled in.

Tailgating in the main lot at Gillette.  We experimented with parking here for a
season or so.  We ultimately moved across the street.

"Let me sleep."

PD takes a break in the back of my truck.

The flags tell us that wind could be a factor.

The brand new Gillette Stadium is seen in the background.

Buns of steel?

I'm pretty sure this was taken because of the young lady in the white shorts.

Those flags are straight out.

Another angle of our first regular season tailgate party at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots are suddenly relevant.

A closer shot of the new building.

Nice painting!

This was painted on the side of a box truck we walked by on our way into the game.

It's Monday Night Football, Baby!!

On the approach to Gillette just before the game.

Fire in the sky.

Just a little bit closer now with some fireworks going up.

Waiting...waiting...

The stadium begins to fill up in anticipation of the banner unveiling.

The lights go down at Gillette!

The ceremony to unveil the Patriots first championship banner, representing their
victory in Superbowl XXXVI over the St. Louis Rams, begins.

Do it already!!

It's almost time...

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - 2001 WORLD CHAMPIONS!

And there it is!  It's just really far away.

Welcome home, guys!

The champs are introduced.

And thanks for the great ride!

The champs take the field!

Getting ready to begin the defense of the title.

Some pre-game warmups.

Hello from Gillette Stadium!

This is the first time we all got to sit together.  Back row, left to right: Bruce, Warren F.,
Steve, Dwayne, Tom and Chris.  Up front are Ellen, PD, Bill and Dennis D.

Nice nails!

Somebody's not paying attention to the game.

Joey Porter's probably crying somewhere.

Near the end of the game, the scoreboard tells the story.

Nice place the Pats have here!

Chris, Tom and Steve at game's end.
