| The Patriots v. Titans playoff game on January 10, 2004 was one of the coldest
home games on record. The temperature hovered around the zero degree mark for much
of the afternoon and evening and at times the windchill made it feel as low as -18
degrees. |
| We fought the bitter cold by setting up two canopies with all but one side
attached. We rented a propane powered, commercial construction heater (aka:
salamander) and pointed it into the improvised room. We also kept a campfire going
and had enough electricity to power a TV and coffee maker. We all had a great time
as the Patriots went on to win the game, 17-14, to advance to the AFC Championship Game
against the Colts. |

It's the 10th of January in New England. It's zero degrees out
with a brisk wind out of the
northeast. What should we do? I know! Let's go outside for the next 8
hours! Yay!

You can see the salamander, propane tank and campfire in the lower
left of this picture. We blew
heat into the tent which helped to bring the temperature inside up to a balmy 20-25
degrees.

Kate smiles as Steve enjoys a frozen rib fresh off the grill.
Oh, we cooked the ribs.
It's just that it took only a matter of seconds for them to cool off.

Here's another shot of the salamander. It's the cylindrical

Smog in our tent? It's more likely cigar smoke.

Steve, Bruce and Joyce take a moment to share some warmth.
Joyce, uhh...could you get in the middle here? |
